I Made Two Dollars!!!

This morning, while running through all of the blog diagnostics that have become the accompaniment to my morning coffee, I decided to check out my AdSense account.  (I very rarely do this because it doesn't really change that much.)  The initial screen didn't surprise me.

My earnings today, thanks to having "Monetized" my site.

This is pretty standard, really.  I don't ever expect it to look any different and get downright excited if it shows that I made a penny.

I clicked on the drop down menu next to the word, view, and selected "All Time".  This is generally much more rewarding because I check it so rarely.  It's kind of like watching a time lapse video of a flower blooming.

I just about squealed with delight!  Did you guys catch that?  I mean, did you?  I've made $2.47!!!  The last time I looked I had just broken the one dollar mark.  Today, I could almost buy an ice cream cone!!! 

I realize that this is probably not that big of a deal to anyone but me and that, in all honesty, it's really kind of pathetic.  You have to remember, though, that I haven't garnered any wages at all for over 8 years.  I'm not saying that I'm planning my retirement or anything.  I'm just saying, "Wow!"

This isn't really about the money.  (I've spent way more on this blog than I can ever hope to make back in advertising.)  I make pennies on advertising and it's based entirely on views and clicks.  The only way I can make anything at all is if people are viewing my blog.  To have made $2.47, my blog had to be viewed over 5000 times.  Five thousand times!!!  I find that number to be staggering.  

This is my 91st post.  (I've been writing nearly every day since the middle of February.)  When I started, I had 2 1/2 followers.  (my husband, me, and my other FaceBook profile - so, also me.)  Today, according to feedburner, 67 people subscribe to my blog.  You guys rock!!!  There are a lot of blogs out there with higher numbers and maybe one day I'll be one of them, but that's neither here nor there.  Today, in this moment in time, I have you guys and I just wanted to let you know how special you are to me.   Thank you for reading and commenting and for joining me on my adventures.  Thank you for following my posts and sharing my blog.  Thank you for helping to motivate me to write everyday and thank you for coming back when I don't.  Thank you for everything.  Thank you for your support.  If I could, I'd give each of you 3.7 cents.  You've earned it!!!
